Let’s help together

The Children’s Dyslexia Center - Boston North offers certification training for educators and individuals who are interested in becoming experts in instructional design using principles and practices of a Structured Literacy approach. Our programs are accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) and must be completed within two consecutive 8-10 month tutoring cycles.

Practitioner 1

Certification Course

Eligible applicants must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and possess a strong commitment to helping children with dyslexia. Enrollees attend required seminars and complete a required 100-hour on-site practicum working one-to-one with two assigned students (50 hours each) during after school hours over the course of the tutoring cycle and under the supervision of qualified staff.

Successful completion of course requirements leads to certification as a Dyslexia Practitioner 1. Enrolled trainees may apply for graduate course credit through Gordon College Course EDU 688 - Reading Clinic (School of Graduate, Professional and Extended Studies 2021-2022).

Applications are accepted through the winter of each year for the subsequent training cycle beginning in the spring or early summer. Please contact us for more information and to request an admission application.
